Among all the amateur EFRs, she's the first dare to do this. Therefore, kudos to SHUHID!!!

BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2012: Event Day

Event: BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2012
Venue: Presint 3, Putrajaya
Time: 8 p.m.
EFRs:
21KM - Zafir, Shuhid, Remy
10KM - Fad, Keat, Misai, Norehan, Wani

Shuhid, still got time to snap a pic with this infamous characters

It's another NIGHT run, which our Ikhwan won't want to involve. It's hot, that's why. No (expected) rain that day, although it's a heavy, heavy rain in Subang (Shuhid's area), and also Damansara (Fad's and Remy's area). Damn heavy rain.

Even some dark clouds are seen around 7p.m. onwards, but then still no rain in Presint 3 area. Huh, shit. It's no cooling factor. We are actually expecting a heavy rain which will stop before the race starts. Haha. After all, it is God's Will that above other things.

It's a good event by organiser actually, given many things such as:
1. Systematic luggage management,
2. Acceptable goodies bag,
3. Unique medal design,
4. Awesome 21km & 42km finisher tee,
5. Funky running vest,
6. Nice 'Pisang'...sedaaappp,
7. Sufficient marshalls,

But, we personally notified deficiency such as:
1. Flag off time too near from category to category:
1 (a). causing 'crowded' moment for the 10km leaders when they stumbled into the slower 21km runners, on the road and at each water station,
1 (b). leaving the late comers for 21km and 42km category with no more Milo, no more 100 Plus, no more medical tent...

Anyway, it still a nice event for all runners. Organiser played it save by limited the registration to only 10,000 pax to make it really organisable. We can't even think more about good & bad, perhaps, overshadowed by the recent Men's Health & Shape Night Run.

The event is this weekend. Our only participant last year (EFR 5) in the same event, is not with us this year, due to "register lambat". Ape ar! Lots of us missed the registration due to "fikir lama sgt". This event is limited to only 10,000. It's a well-known brand of marathon running. So, next time don't wait yea buddyz!

Event: Putrajaya Night Marathon
Date: 20 Oct 2012
Time: 8:00pm onwards (depends on category)
Categories: 42KM, 21KM, 10KM

21KM - Shuhid EFR 7, Remy EFR 11, Zafir EFR 12
10KM - Fad EFR 3, Norehan EFR 9, Keat EFR 19, Nazmi EFR 23

Frustrated by Nike KL early registration closing, 3 EFRs decided to quickly register for Nike SG. The registration process which last for, at least, more than 3 days has enable them to participate.

Nike We Run KL 2012: D-Day!!

And so this interesting day finally arrived. On 13th October, approximately 15k runners flocked the streets of KL particularly the stretch along Jalan Ampang till Dataran Merdeka. 4 lucky representatives from EFR took part in the event. They are Sara (EFR 17), Ezani (EFR 5), Fithri (EFR 23) and Afiq (EFR 22). The day of the 13th started off drizzly and turned heavy throughout the day. Fortunately, the rain stopped just few hours before the race started. However, as expected, most of the running paths were wet and runners were even greeted with muddy ending.

General consensus from the public responses on this year's event, 2012 KL edition can be considered as the worst so far. However, there are some plus-es too. This year's shirts are arguably nicer and cooler! All runners would receive racer tee and finisher tee. No finisher medals though.

According to Sara, the bag collection system was a mess! Imagine, one had to wait for few hours just to collect his/her bag because the organiser called the bag owner according to the number ONE by ONE! To sum it up, Ezani, Fithri, Sara and Afiq enjoyed the run but felt that the organiser could do a lot better to turn the event more satisfying for all. To Nike We Run KL, hope you learn from this year's shortcomings and to improve next year! These are snapshots of the event:

Sweet Sara (EFR 17) and her sweet friend getting ready for the run!!

Most people complained that they ran further than 10km and here's the proof! (source: Sara's Nike+ data)

The racer tee and finisher tee! Very cool looking indeed

Andy (EFR 4) captured this at Masjid Jamek Putra Station while he was returning home from part-time class

Cramping session..

Finished!!

Stop breathing please!

Awesome finisher T design

Don't Run, Walk...ooops is this KL City Walk @ Jalan P Ramlee...

The frustrated face of EFR 5, he is the one who has a lot, a lot, a loooottttt of dissapointment moment in this year's Nike Run...

Wrap up of EFRs sports life last weekend

With all these happened on 7th October 2012, this could be one of the busiest weekend for EYKL Fun Runners. Perhaps towards the Putrajaya Night Marathon, most of them have their own style of preparation. Here are the simple wrap-up of the weekend, with some of EFRs' activities we didn't highlight here.

1. Live Great Run 2012 running clinic (EFR 1)

Ikhwan having a nice time with the running clinic he always dreamt of joining. Finally...fuh. So now please share some tips to the other amateur runners here, bro! Can't u? The clinic which held at OU, Damansara, is for the event of Live Great Run 2012. The event is on 4th Nov this year, at Matrade and offers 12KM competitive and 3KM Fun Run. The event is still open for registration, click here if you're interested.

2. Kordel's Charity Walk 2012 (EFR 23)

Out of sudden, Fith became the first EFR to join official walk event. The event which promotes the motto, "Walk for healthier joint, walk for charity", held at Pdg Merbok was a successful event too. He said he finished in less than an hour. We dunno the exact time.

3. Pink Charity Run 2012 (EFR 3 & EFR 20)

Fad & Evira chose to run for the cause - to fight breast cancer. This event organised by Pantai Hospital, is to create awareness and with the aim of educate Malaysian on the early detection and prevention of the breast cancer. This is not the first time this event being organised. Sarimah Ibrahim, who acted as an ambassador of the run, cheer the participants and the winners of the day.

4. Bukit Gasing trail running (EFR 5)

Ezani and his bunch of friends having a nice time together at Bukit Gasing. Initially, the plan is to go to Bukit Broga, to have a hiking training, ahead of his Mount Kinabalu trip end of this month. Due to some circumstances, the plan changed. According to him, he never regret to change his initial plan. The first time he's here, he said he fall in love with Bukit Gasing already. We told you edy before what?? Haha..

Gorgeous Community Fun Run 2012: Event Day

Date: 30 September 2012
Venue: Taman Shamelin Perkasa Cheras, KL
EFR: Min-Yi 'EFR 18' - 8KM (62th)

10KM category has been shorten to 8KM as for the road construction in progress. Other than this category, there is also Family Fun Run category, required participant to run 4KM. Just like Salomon X Trail which the flag off delayed due to cheerleaders' performance, this event delayed by the aerobics warm-up by the organiser.

Good things about this event are:
1. Nice Puma race vest,
2. Timing device for all runners,
3. Small but still happening!

Enjoy the pics of our only participant, Min-Yi (EFR 18) on the event day...

PJ Half Marathon 2012: On The Road Experience!

On this eventful day, EFR1 (Ikhwan) and EFR4 (Andy) woke up very early and car pool-ed together with excitement to conquer the 21km challenge of PJ Half Marathon 2012. (But actually, EFR4 had been staying up since 12am watching Man Utd vs Spurs with EFR12 (Zafir) at Pelita Sri Hartamas. Boo! Manutd for the bad performance). The 21km category started at 5.30am and we arrived at Stadium PJ at around 5am.

The crowd was already pack in and out of the stadium by the time we arrived. All looking energetic and enthusiastics to participate in this event. Salute to the runners!

Speaking about the route, the starting line was at Stadium PJ. Runners would head into LDP and off into Federal Highway. Then the route came to the Subang Airport and runners made a uturn at the end of the straight road after the tunnel and headed back to Stadium PJ using the same route. Most of the time, we ran on the motorcycle path at the side of the road. The nature viewing experience might be a bit dull as runners would only see roads and buildings unlike what Salomon Xtrail 2012 runners would enjoy. One thing that runners would hate, there was no portapotty being made available for runners along the route. Andy for one experienced the difficulty. Out of all running events that he joined, he had to stop to pee in PJ Half marathon! Really spoilt his preparation and speed. Lol! Anyway, luckily he managed to ease out at KTM Station Setia beside the Federal Highway.

Arriving at the finish line, runners were greeted with finisher medals and Bola Kampung Style dancers ala Gangnam Style song. Damn this song is haunting and being repeated way too much already! Various booths were set up i.e GSC’s popcorn and cottoncandy, Milo booth, Fitnesse breakfast, free Star newspaper, and various carnival like games to name a few. We felt like we were in a carnival which is good!

All in all, Ikhwan and Andy were both happy that they could participate in PJ Half Marathon 2012 which is quite a memorable one for the event and the organiser itself, as this event was celebrating its 25 years of existence!  And also living up to the event’s tagline “Run because you can”!

Clorox, Ubermen cleanser, Soya drinks, Bio-essence stuff, White coffe packet, Rm5.00 voucher salon pas, 2 protex soaps...Meriah sungguh runner's pack entitlement!

Some of the game (and amoi) at the event
