Great Eastern Life Great Run 2013: Event details

Yo!! One more great run by a great insurance giant, at least for me, who are writing this entry. Just like its name, this is should be another great run for the year 2013. 

Same like last year, this event offers 2 distance categories for you to join - 12km individual & 3km Team of Two. 

It is on 15th of September 2013, Sunday morning at Menara Matrade, KL. Early bird ends 30 June 2013, so you better hurry, buddyz!!

Great Eastern Life Great Run 2012 - Last Year

MPIB Run 2013: Kick start our year 2013

Event: MPIB Run 2013

Date: 6 January 2013, Sunday

Time: 7am

Venue: Padang Merbok, KL

Distance: 12KM, 8KM & 5KM

Perhaps due to many EFRs joined Newton 2012 at the end of last year, not many of us ran this event. Fadh (EFR 3) & Harun (EFR 31) hit 12KM, Shuhid (EFR 7) & Hana (EFR 25) took down the 8KM challenge, and Ikhwan (EFR 1) had his 5KM only this time. 

Not much we could say here. As expected, it is an awesome event. Good organisers. So happening with lots of sponsors' tent which coloured the day. PB for Fadh, Harun, Shuhid & Kak Hana! I think it is a cool thing to start your 2013 running year with MPIB Run 2013.

Penang Bridge International Marathon 2012: Event Day

It's the marathon with the most participation by EFRs. Total 25 EFRs registered, however 2 gave it up at the very last minute. Other than almost 34,500 runners, which caused massive and unacceptable queue at the 100 Plus booth, the event was still interesting. Held for the last time on the current bridge (next year will take place on the new bridge), it is why many people take part and take chance to snap some pics on the bridge. Some EFRs joined Fad to run in his wedding costume.

Great Eastern Life Great Run 2012: Event Day

Another great race on a great day by a great organiser, it is Live Great Run 2012. Most of us really satisfied on how the race being organised. The only 'fuuhhh' factors are numbers of uphill slopes, can say 3 of them. Plus, the unique and interesting kind of obstacles/challenge provided along the route. The runners needed to jump over two plastic barriers and escape the barricades. But still the winner of Men's Open recorded 42:42 mins, damn fast, walaoweh! The 12km race route required runners to past parts of Jalan Duta, Jalan Kuching, Publika, Istana Negara and also Hartamas Shopping Centre.

3KM (None of EFR join this, too bad, haha)

Other than 12km route, there is also 3km Fun Run category. The runners in this event wearing some sort of "double t-shirt", it's very unique. Perhaps the similar height of both runners in pair (not vary by more than 1 foot) would help. The organiser said, this (double/twin t-shirt) is intended to promote building meaningful relationships with the ones you love. Not like 12km, the 3km runners' route past Jabatan Kastam & Eksais Di Raja Malaysia.

Commercial break for a second, EFR blog is NOT a one man show. There is a team of numbers of editors. 

However, me (being one of the editor), myself, individually, I really LOVE the medal design soooooo much. Traditionally circle shape, without pin (suspension rings) attaching the ribbons with the metal plate, it is absolutely my favourite. Other than this special token of appreciation, overall, the event has been well organised. There is enough and efficient water stations, thanks to the volunteers. I love the sponge station, though I only normally saw this at night running event, due to heating condition. The finishing area was so big and happening. We did took a number of pictures there. Great Eastern Women's Run 2012

EFR only have 3 female runners. Without knowing what are your views, but the editor recommend you this event. It's Great Eastern Women's Run 2012. Organised by HiVelocity, the event features Half Marathon, 10km and 5km categories. This will be the first women-only Half Marathon event in Singapore. The runners will pass-by Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Merlion Park, Esplanade, Singapore Flyer, F1 Pit Building etc.

The event will be held 11 November 2012, one week before the Penang Bridge Internation Marathon 2012. Hope that EFR 7, EFR 9 and  EFR 10 may find the race information below valuable.
