Stanchart Chartered KL Marathon 2013: Photos, results and e-certificates

Congratulations EFR on your completion of Full Marathon, Half Marathon and 10KM!

Hope you enjoy the event this year. We have another 2 full marathon virgins who lost their 'virginity' this year, salute to Pisang (EFR 31) and Andy (EFR 4). Trust me, the completion of 42.195KM is not about time, but to finish it. Kudos for having the passion & courage. So far, EFR already have 5 full marathoners but no one of them has done it twice yet. Who will be the first? I hope you challenge yourself. The next EFR to do FM is Izyan (EFR 35) at the upcoming Penang Bridge International Marathon 2013. We wish her all the best!

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013: Postponement

After there was a news spread regarding SCKLM'13 making way into The Malaysia Book Of Records as to be the largest participation in a marathon, we need to accept the fact that the event need to be postponed.

On 26 June 2013, Wednesday night, about 3 days before the event:

Around 10.30am of 27 June 2013 (Thursday), posted on their website:

"Organisers announce new date, 29 September 2013

The organisers of Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 officially made the decision today to postpone the Marathon that was initially scheduled for 30 June 2013 in the interest of public health. The decision was made with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, co-organiser Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and title sponsor, Standard Chartered Bank.

After discussions with the local authorities including Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Department of Environment (DOE) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the organisers and partners of the event came to a difficult decision to postpone the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013 to 29 September 2013.

YB Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Youth and Sports has concurred with the decision to postpone the event due to the current haze situation, given the potential detrimental health hazards posed to more than 33,000 participants of the Marathon.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor, YBhg Datuk Seri Haji Ahmad Phesal Talib reinforced the decision to set the Marathon to a more conducive time and date due to the unexpected circumstance. "The Standard Chartered KL Marathon is a key event for Kuala Lumpur, and I'm supportive of it being held in better weather condition. We want the participants to enjoy their run along the streets of Kuala Lumpur," he added.

Rainer Biemans, the Project Director of Standard Chartered KL Marathon further explained why such a tough decision was made, "The main factor of the postponement is due to the haze situation in the city. The Air Pollutant Index (API) which scaled to a hazardous level earlier in the week is yet to show strong improvement. We regret any inconveniences caused but we place our runners' health and safety above all else. The team worked very hard to get everything in place and we share the runners' disappointment. With a new date to look forward to, we hope that all runners will take this opportunity to continue training and be even more mentally prepared to run and finish a good race. We look forward to seeing all of you in September."

Title sponsor, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Osman Morad supported the decision and said, "As much as we would like to proceed with the Marathon, we will not compromise on public health. We have rescheduled the Marathon based on the city's calendar and on the advice of the authorities. I look forward to it taking place in September with keen anticipation."

Race Entry Pack Collection will however proceed as scheduled on 27 to 29 June at PWTC for runners residing in W.P. Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. For runners that are not from W.P. Kuala Lumpur and Selangor may collect their race-entry packs on the week leading to 29 September where the organisers will set up a small scale Race Entry Pack Collection only for these outstation and overseas runners.

Organisers encourage participants to regularly visit the Standard Chartered KL Marathon official website at www.kl-marathon.com and facebook.com/scklmarathon for updates."

..and the Key Power Malaysia effectively changed their event's date to 3rd  of November. This event initially scheduled on 29 September 2013, and Key Power Malaysia planned to set up their roadshow on the Standard Chartered race kit collection day itself.

This scenario, however, received mixed responses from the registered runners. Some overseas runners has already booked their accommodation, travel ticket and so on. We believe that it is really hard for the organiser to come out with this decision, but they have considered the best for the sake of runners' health and safety. However, we also believe and hope that the organiser will carry out the best solutions for the problems faced by some runners due to this postponement.

All the best, SCKLM'13!

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2012: Statistics and Analysis

This is statistics issued by KL Marathon website as above.

As you all can see, MEN VETERAN do not prefer 10KM running, but Full & Half Marathon instead! Hahaha...

Only 15% out of MEN (who joined 42KM), are WOMEN. Hahaha...

The total of MEN & WOMEN ran 10KM are almost the same. The same goes to MEN & WOMEN VETERAN 10KM. Hahaha...

Full Marathon is the only category where MEN VETERAN (only) is more than WOMEN OPEN & VETERAN combined. Hahaha...

Overall...special salute to MEN VETERAN!!! They are awesome. Make sure you're one of them in future.

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2012, the biggest marathon in Malaysia, had left some memories for us to be remembered. See you guys in 2013!!!

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2012: The D-day

Finally, 24th of June 2012 came! The day that most of us have been waiting. The moment of truth (in knowing how much we have improved). Standard Chartered KL Marathon or SCKLM for short was here again! It's happening yawwww...

All those preparations, trainings, and new gears will be tested in this RUN!!! Survival of the fittest! Who will prevail? hoho...ok enough of all the dramas. heh. Total number of 14 EFRs joined the run which was touted as the largest running event in Malaysia apart from the Penang Bridge International Marathon. It was reported that 28k runners joined the event (as claimed in one of the local newspaper).

EFR 3 being the most 'semangat' one of all arrived damn early at Dataran Merdeka. EFR 4 and EFR 1 planned to board the free shuttle service earlier but unfortunately they woke up late and missed the buses. Thus they drove there. EFR 5 managed to hop onto the free bus. Meanwhile, at Menara Milenium in Pusat Bandar Damansara, one chap was waiting there patiently while listening to radio staring blankly at mamaks of Ali Maju perhaps. haha. He was none other than EFR 12 who had been kept waiting by EFR 7 who arrived late by 2.5 hours.

In the end, EFR 4 and EFR 19, the latecomers for 21km category started 7-8mins late. Meanwhile, latecomers for 10km category, EFR 12 and EFR 7 started 1 hour late at 8am instead of 7am. Nevertheless, apart from the small 'hiccups' for certain EFRs, everything went fine. The weather was perfect! From EFR 1, EFR 3 and EFR 4 points of view, they definitely enjoyed the half-marathon run. Since there were a lot of people joining SCKLM 2012, not one point along the route you would run alone. Considering this run as the 1st half marathon for the 3 of them, EFR 1 did blazingly unbelievably superbly fast, finishing at 2hrs 13mins. Congrats to him! and also, congrats to 2 of EFRs, EFR 11 & EFR 16 for finishing the full marathon category. Really respect you guys for having that strong will and courage!

Upon finishing the race, all runners would gather at Dataran Merdeka to collect their finisher goodies bags which contain a banana, a can of 100plus and finisher medal. There was live band performances on stage making the event more colourful. There was also not-free massage there provided you pay RM20. haih. Unlike Sundown Marathon 2012 which provided free massages.

All in all, it was a great event, an event that will be remembered by most of the EFRs as they might have clocked their personal best here, ran their first half-marathon here, finished their first full-marathon here, 1st time completing the run with their newly bought minimalist gear or compression tights and so on. Congratulations to all of us and the organiser, Standard Chartered Bank!

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2012: Running fever, running gear

Running fever brought by SCKLM 2012, has also encouraged some of the enthusiast EFR runners to visit the nearest sports outlet in town for their running gears. For about these 2-3 months before, some of EFRs have SPENT a lot for the BEST. This absolutely showed a determination of EFRs in order to get the best, at least the personal best. Hehehehe. Here's some of the SPENT made by certain EFRs who has come into editors' radar.  Anyway, from editors, ... CHAIYOK!!!
