EFR 7 together with EFR 25 and her husband and kids join the race as team called EFR representing our blog. They registered for short distance- 10KM as they ran with kids in 2 strollers. They are given a map of Singapore and 5 checkpoints that they need to go to collect a sticker at each checkpoint and complete the race with all 5 stickers.

For short distance, the race flag off at 9.30am, EFR 7 as the leader and the person in charge to lead the run (as she is good in reading map) planned the route for the race. She decided to go to Checkpoint 2 (near Chinatown) then Checkpoint 4 (near riverside point) then Checkpoint 3 (on top of the hills of Fort Canning Park), followed by Orchard Road as Checkpoint 6 (in front of Ion Orchard) and the last Checkpoint 5 (at Bugis area) before heading back to finish line across Millenia Walk where the race started.

As they run or they called it strolling with the kids, they don’t really run during the race, they walk and pushing the stroller along the way. They didn’t get the best timing, infact 6th place from the last (368 out of 373 teams), with a timing 4hrs and 39 mins, yet they didn’t bother about the timing as they had so much fun exploring the city. Most of the time they were camwhoring, taking picture of the iconic landmarks and their running moments, not to forget had to change the diapers for the baby, feed the baby and make some milk, toilet break, window shopping (can u imagine they had a window shopping time during the race), having their lunch break at Shiraz Mazzeh having premium lamb kebab and beef kebab, and eating the famous 1 dollar ice cream in a bun along orchard road.

The race is a good way promoting Singapore and a good tourism idea to attract people to join the race in the future. Some of Singaporean runners who did 40km run also said there are many place that they haven’t explore in their own country and they also had so much fun in that race.

At the finishing line, all the runners are provided with isotonic drinks, yogurt bar, apple, orange, banana, chicken subway for non muslim, veggie subway for vegetarians and the one that caught our attention was they even provided food for muslim runners. The meal was awesome.

All and all, from the feedback of EFR 7 and EFR 25, they definitely wanna join the race again next year if the Organizer decided to have it, as they are totally happy and enjoy the race. For EFR 7, she said she love the idea of the race and the sightseeing so she plan to join the mid distance in the future and get a better timing for sure. Thumbs up to the organizer, it was an awesome event.
