On this eventful day, EFR1 (Ikhwan) and EFR4 (Andy) woke up
very early and car pool-ed together with excitement to conquer the 21km challenge
of PJ Half Marathon 2012. (But actually, EFR4 had been staying up since 12am
watching Man Utd vs Spurs with EFR12 (Zafir) at Pelita Sri Hartamas. Boo!
Manutd for the bad performance). The 21km category started at 5.30am and we
arrived at Stadium PJ at around 5am.
The crowd was already pack in and out of the stadium by the
time we arrived. All looking energetic and enthusiastics to participate in this
event. Salute to the runners!
Speaking about the route, the starting line was at Stadium
PJ. Runners would head into LDP and off into Federal Highway. Then the route
came to the Subang Airport and runners made a uturn at the end of the straight
road after the tunnel and headed back to Stadium PJ using the same route. Most of
the time, we ran on the motorcycle path at the side of the road. The nature viewing
experience might be a bit dull as runners would only see roads and buildings
unlike what Salomon Xtrail 2012 runners would enjoy. One thing that runners
would hate, there was no portapotty being made available for runners along the
route. Andy for one experienced the difficulty. Out of all running events that he
joined, he had to stop to pee in PJ Half marathon! Really spoilt his
preparation and speed. Lol! Anyway, luckily he managed to ease out at KTM
Station Setia beside the Federal Highway.
Arriving at the finish line, runners were greeted with
finisher medals and Bola Kampung Style dancers ala Gangnam Style song. Damn
this song is haunting and being repeated way too much already! Various booths
were set up i.e GSC’s popcorn and cottoncandy, Milo booth, Fitnesse breakfast,
free Star newspaper, and various carnival like games to name a few. We felt
like we were in a carnival which is good!
All in all, Ikhwan and Andy were both happy that they could
participate in PJ Half Marathon 2012 which is quite a memorable one for the
event and the organiser itself, as this event was celebrating its 25 years of existence!
And also living up to the event’s
tagline “Run because you can”!

Good goodies as compared to Salomon. I joined Salomon n heard that PJ Half is Carnival lookalike running event..
ReplyDeleteI would love to highlight on Gangnam Style, the song that also being played when Salomon flagged off..lolx..So "haunting"!
True indeed! That haunting song... So it was the other way round at Salomon eh. Salomon runners were flagged off with the song, PJHalf were greeted at the finish line with that song. LOL! Salomon's finisher hat is something that PJ Half runners would envy. No finisher T at all for PJ Half..... T_T
